NELFUND Urges Schools to Fast-Track Verification to Prevent Loan Disbursement Delays

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has called on tertiary institutions across the country to accelerate their verification processes in order to ensure timely loan disbursement to students.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND explained that the repeated delays in school verification often frustrate beneficiaries who depend on the loans for tuition fees and living expenses.

“We continue to receive complaints from prospective beneficiaries about the slow pace of verification by schools, which results in delayed access to their school fees and upkeep allowances,” the statement noted.

While stressing that proper verification remains a mandatory requirement, the Fund emphasized that schools must prioritize efficiency to avoid unnecessary hardship for students. According to NELFUND, prompt approval of successful applications would guarantee that students access funds as and when due.

In a related development, the Fund announced the relocation of its headquarters to a permanent site in Abuja. The new office, located at House 12, Plot 103/104, Monrovia Street, Wuse 2, became operational on September 5, 2025.

NELFUND assured stakeholders that the relocation will not disrupt its services and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering affordable education loans to Nigerian students. The Fund further clarified that all its official social media handles remain unchanged.
