NECO Releases 2025 BECE Results, Announces Resit Dates for Mathematics and English

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

This was announced on Wednesday in Abuja by Sani Azeez, Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at NECO. He revealed that a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 12 subjects.

The examination began on 12th May and concluded on 23rd May, 2025. Azeez noted that the release of the results followed the successful conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting, held at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

Speaking at the meeting, the chairperson of the Award Committee, Dr. (Mrs) Folake Olatunji David, who is also the Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, expressed satisfaction with the processes that led to the timely release of the results.

The meeting was also attended by several secondary school principals from different parts of the country, alongside members of NECO’s management team.

In addition to the release of results, the Award Committee has approved the date and timetable for the 2025 BECE resit examinations.

According to the Council, the resit will take place on the 23rd and 24th of July, 2025, and will cover only Mathematics and English Studies.
