A concerned mother, Fijabi Omotayo, has called for urgent public and institutional assistance following the disappearance of her son, Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student of Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.
Omotayo revealed in a Facebook live broadcast that she personally dropped off her son at the university on the evening of Sunday, April 27, 2025. However, she has not been able to contact or locate him since then.
“I dropped him off myself on Sunday evening, but for the past three days, I have not been able to sleep,” she said. “I went to the school, and they told me that students sometimes hide within the premises. Babcock University should please help find my son.”
The distraught mother appealed to the public and security agencies to assist in locating her son. She expressed frustration over what she described as the university’s lack of transparency, particularly concerning two students—identified as Lampard and Tobi—whom she alleged were the last known individuals to have seen Oladipupo.
“Babcock University, Ilisan, could you please inform me about the whereabouts of my son, Oladipupo Siwajuola? My family and I should not suffer because of your lack of accountability,” she said in a previous post.
In response to the growing concerns, the Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun on New Media, Emmanuel Ojo, said he had contacted the state’s Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu. The commissioner reportedly reached out to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo.
According to Ojo, the Vice-Chancellor stated that he was unaware of the incident until it was brought to his attention but has since received the student’s name, photograph, and related information. He assured that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.
Security agencies have also been notified. Ojo expressed optimism that efforts underway would lead to a resolution.
A university source confirmed that Babcock’s internal security unit had launched an investigation and invited the individuals mentioned by the mother for questioning.
Speaking to the press, the university’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Dr. Joshua Suleiman, confirmed the development. “The school is aware of the case. It is being handled by our security department and is currently under investigation,” Suleiman stated.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, also confirmed the report, adding that the matter was officially reported to the police on Saturday. “We are already investigating the matter and have been trying to get in touch with the university. We are on it,” he said.
