LASU Graduate Emerges Best Graduating Female Student at Nigerian Law School

Lawal Maryam Abiodun, an alumna of Lagos State University (LASU), has been named the Best Graduating Female Student and the Second Overall Best Graduating Student at the 2025 Call to Bar ceremony of the Nigerian Law School, held in Abuja.

Maryam, who studied at LASU’s Faculty of Law, specialising in both Common and Islamic Law, distinguished herself among 7,134 candidates called to the Bar on Thursday, July 10. Her outstanding performance has secured her recognition as one of the leading figures in Nigeria’s legal academic sphere.

Speaking at the event on behalf of LASU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Kareem Olatoye, praised Maryam’s achievements, describing her as “a true ambassador and a shining example of the excellence we cultivate in our students.” He encouraged other law students to draw inspiration from her dedication and strong academic discipline.

In her congratulatory message, Professor Olatunji-Bello expressed that Maryam’s success is a significant source of pride for the entire LASU community. She also commended Professor Olatoye and the faculty for their unwavering commitment to developing students who can thrive in any professional or academic setting.

“This outstanding accomplishment highlights the high standards of education and mentorship at LASU,” Professor Olatunji-Bello noted. “It reflects our dedication to producing graduates who are globally competitive and capable of excelling anywhere in the world.”
