The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced Saturday, June 28, 2025, as the official date for the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise.
In a statement released on Sunday by JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board confirmed that 96,838 candidates are expected to participate in the mop-up exam, which will be held across 183 designated centres nationwide.
The rescheduled exercise is intended to accommodate 5,096 spill-over candidates, including those who could not undergo biometric verification during the main UTME, as well as 91,742 candidates who were absent during the initial and resit examinations.
Dr. Benjamin advised all eligible candidates to begin printing their examination notification slips starting Monday, June 23, 2025, via the official JAMB portal.
The board also revealed that as part of an ongoing security and integrity review of the examination process, 113 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres have been either delisted or suspended. These actions were taken due to technical deficiencies recorded during the mock tests, main UTME, and resit exams, as well as various forms of malpractice and misconduct uncovered during ongoing investigations.
“In addition to centres being delisted for technical deficiencies, a large number of CBT centres implicated in sharp practices are under suspension. Those found guilty will be delisted permanently and reported for prosecution,” the statement read.
Due to the deactivation of certain examination towns linked to these infractions, some candidates will be reassigned to the nearest available centres. The board appealed for the understanding of affected candidates as it works to ensure a fair and credible examination process.
