The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has confirmed that there will be no increase in application fees for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) admissions.
Prospective candidates will be required to pay ₦3,500 for the Computer Based Test (CBT) fee and ₦700 as a service charge, maintaining the same fee structure as previous years.
In a statement titled “No Likely Increase In UTME/DE Application Fees As JAMB Maintains Stable Cost Regime”, the Board noted that it has not raised registration fees in the last nine years. During this period, fees have occasionally been reduced to ease the financial burden on candidates and their families.
The statement added that any future increase would only occur if absolutely necessary to protect the integrity and quality of the examination process. This policy aligns with directives from the President of Nigeria, conveyed through the Minister of Education, emphasizing that JAMB’s operations should reflect the administration’s human-face policies while considering the economic realities facing Nigerian families.
JAMB also advised parents and guardians to plan ahead and ensure timely registration of their wards, warning that there will be no extension of the registration period once it begins.
Despite maintaining stable fees, the Board highlighted that it has continued to operate efficiently, generating substantial revenue for the Federal Government while upholding accountability, transparency, and prudent financial management.
The statement concluded by reaffirming JAMB’s commitment to fairness, affordability, and global best practices in the conduct of examinations.
