The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revised the date for the final assessment of underage candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), citing delays by several universities in submitting their Post-UTME screening results.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the adjustment became necessary after 23 of the 71 universities selected by the affected candidates failed to meet the initial September 15 deadline.

The defaulting institutions include the University of Lagos (39 candidates), Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja (18), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (15), University of Abuja (12), and the University of Uyo (9), among others. In total, 135 candidates have been impacted by the delay.

JAMB disclosed that it had formally written to the erring universities, directing them to immediately forward the outstanding screening scores. It also reminded institutions of their obligations under the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

The Board further instructed public universities to submit their recommended candidates by Tuesday, September 30, 2025, while private universities were given until Friday, October 31, 2025.

Despite the extension, JAMB stressed that the final deadlines—October 30 for public universities and November 31 for private universities—remain binding, in line with the resolutions reached at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa.

The Board reiterated that strict adherence to the timelines is crucial to guaranteeing a fair, transparent, and efficient admission process for the 2025/2026 academic session.
