The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the conclusion of the 2025 admission process in public universities from October 31 to November 17, 2025. The announcement was made via the Board’s official X page, noting that the extension will allow institutions more time to complete ongoing admission activities.

JAMB recalled that the initial deadline was set during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held on July 18, 2025, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa.

According to the Board, the extension became necessary for two key reasons: a request from the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU), and the recent accreditation of new academic programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The Board explained that AVCNU appealed for additional time due to disruptions caused by a court order that affected the 2025/2026 admission list, which was only vacated on October 28, 2025. Furthermore, on October 29, 2025, the NUC approved 229 new programmes across 37 universities, and admissions into these programmes are still being arranged.

JAMB acknowledged the cooperation of public universities in working to meet the original deadline and stated that the new deadline of November 17, 2025, is final. The Board reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a fair, transparent, and orderly admissions process in line with national education objectives.
