The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned the public against misleading messages being circulated through a fake version of its official 66019 shortcode.
In a statement released on Wednesday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the examination body clarified that the fraudulent messages are falsely instructing candidates—including those who have already sat for their resit exams and received results—to reprint their exam slips for another resit.
“The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) wishes to alert the public to deceptive messages being shared through a spoofed version of its 66019 shortcode,” the statement read. “These messages are directing candidates, many of whom have already completed their resit examinations and received their results, to reprint their slips for another resit.”
JAMB emphasized that these messages are fake and not from the board. It reassured candidates that no additional examinations are currently scheduled and urged them to ignore such communications.
“There are no ongoing resit exams,” the board confirmed. “Candidates who have already taken the resit and received their results should disregard these fraudulent messages, which are clearly designed to create confusion.”
The statement further clarified that the only upcoming examinations are the foreign UTME, to be conducted in nine countries across Europe, the Middle East, and select African nations, and a mop-up examination for candidates who missed previous sittings due to biometric verification issues. The mop-up will only apply to those granted waivers for 2025.
JAMB urged the public to remain vigilant and wait for official announcements through its verified communication channels. Candidates eligible for the mop-up examination will be informed once arrangements are finalized.
