The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has concluded all necessary accreditation, validation and security checks for centres, personnel and other stakeholders to participate in the registration exercise for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The Board disclosed this at a recent expanded management meeting, where it assured the public that the upcoming registration exercise would be robust, secure and largely free from irregularities. JAMB said adequate time had been invested in putting comprehensive measures in place to prevent and effectively address any likely registration challenges.

According to the examination body, lessons and insights drawn from the post-registration and examination review of the 2025 UTME provided an opportunity to strengthen both technological and operational systems ahead of the 2026 exercise. These improvements, the Board noted, are aimed at detecting and preventing registration and examination malpractice.

JAMB warned individuals or groups planning to engage in registration or examination infractions to steer clear of the 2026 UTME registration process, which is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2026. The Board revealed that more than 30 suspected registration and examination offenders are currently facing prosecution, while about 20 others are already in correctional custody.

“It should also be noted that arrests may occur during or well after the conduct of the examination, as investigations are ongoing and continuous,” the Board stated.

Members of the public were further advised to avoid all JAMB-related processes unless they are duly registered candidates or accredited stakeholders. JAMB reiterated its commitment to transparency, efficiency and the integrity of Nigeria’s examination system, assuring candidates that application documents for the 2026 UTME would be released early in 2026.
