The Katsina State Scholarship Board has announced the approval of over ₦372 million in bursary allowances for 24,452 continuing students, following the directive of Governor Dikko Radda.
The Executive Secretary of the board, Dr. Aminu Salisu-Tsauri, disclosed this in a statement issued in Katsina on Tuesday. He described the approval as a reflection of the governor’s deep commitment to human capital development and his belief that education remains the foundation of peace, prosperity, and sustainable growth.
“Since the inception of this administration, the government has consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment to students’ welfare through timely bursary disbursements,” Salisu-Tsauri said.
He outlined the government’s previous interventions, noting that:
- ₦637.9 million was disbursed to 47,935 students (2020/2021 fresh and 2021/2022 continuing).
- ₦544.2 million went to 37,802 students (2021/2022 fresh and 2022/2023 continuing).
- ₦744.1 million was released to 50,438 students (2022/2023 fresh and 2023/2024 continuing).
He added that approvals would soon be granted for the 2024/2025 local scholarships covering 12,609 fresh students, alongside awards for academic excellence and special scholarships for students with special needs.
According to him, the categories will be officially unveiled during the governor’s forthcoming inauguration ceremony.
With the latest round of approvals, the total number of student beneficiaries has now reached an unprecedented 174,461.
The Executive Secretary further assured that the board is putting measures in place to ensure seamless and timely disbursement of the newly approved bursary funds.
“Beyond local support, Governor Radda has also elevated the state to the global stage by sponsoring students to pursue studies abroad in highly specialised and competitive fields,” Salisu-Tsauri added.
