Former Minister of Education, Prof. Jibril Aminu, Dies at 85

Former Nigerian senator and minister of education, Professor Jibril Aminu, has passed away at the age of 85.

Professor Aminu died on Wednesday in Abuja following a prolonged illness.

Widely respected as a diplomat, cardiologist, and statesman, Aminu had a distinguished career in public service. He served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States from 1999 to 2003, before representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District in the Senate from 2003 to 2011.

Throughout his career, Professor Aminu was known for his contributions to education, healthcare, and Nigeria’s foreign relations.

He is survived by two wives and nine children.
