The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for collective action to protect education and secure schools nationwide, describing it as vital to Nigeria’s future.
Mrs. Tinubu, a former teacher, made the appeal on Tuesday in her message marking the 2025 International Day to Protect Education from Attack, themed “Challenging Narratives, Reshaping Action.”
She said the theme is a reminder to move beyond rhetoric and take practical measures to keep learners, teachers, and schools safe.
“The theme calls us to move beyond words and take stronger action to safeguard education,” she stated.
The First Lady stressed that the safety of schools must never be compromised, warning that neglecting it would endanger the nation’s future. “Education is the foundation of hope, and safeguarding it means securing our future,” she added.
Mrs. Tinubu also commended international organisations such as UNICEF, UNESCO, and the Education Above All Foundation for their contributions to advancing child education globally.
Acknowledging the work of security agencies, she urged them to intensify efforts, noting that protecting schools must remain a shared national priority.
