In a bid to ease the financial burden on parents and enhance learning outcomes for schoolchildren, Rite Foods Limited has donated educational materials to no fewer than 2,000 public school pupils in underserved communities across Lagos and Ogun states.
The intervention, carried out in commemoration of the 2025 World Children’s Day celebration, is part of the company’s ongoing social investment in education. The items distributed include school bags—produced from recycled nylon waste generated by the company—and exercise books.
The donation was formally presented during a ceremony held at Ayeroju Nursery and Primary School in Oworonshoki, Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, where pupils from four schools within the LGA gathered to receive the items. Beneficiaries included students from Oworonshoki Nursery and Primary School, Local Government Nursery and Primary School, Mosafejo Nursery and Primary School, and Muslim Nursery and Primary School.
A similar distribution took place in Ogun State, reaching pupils of Moslem Primary School, St. Thomas Catholic Primary School, and St. John’s Anglican Primary School, all located in Ososa, near Ijebu-Ode.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Ekuma Eze, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability at Rite Foods Ltd, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting child education, particularly for children from low-income backgrounds. He stressed the role of education in nation-building and reaffirmed the company’s dedication to initiatives that promote access to quality learning.
“Our belief is that children are the foundation of national development, and we must support their academic growth by all means possible,” Eze said. He also noted that pupils in Abuja would benefit from the initiative in the coming days.
Addressing the students, the Head of Human Resources at Rite Foods Ltd, Mr. Ismail Ganiyu, encouraged the pupils to take their studies seriously and use the materials for their intended purposes. He reiterated the company’s interest in their academic success and personal development.
The Managing Director of Kazih Kits, a sustainability-focused enterprise and project partner, Dr. Chinedu Azih, described the initiative as a demonstration of what can be achieved when corporate social responsibility intersects with local innovation. She emphasized that the school bags, made from upcycled nylon waste, are not only a tool for learning but also a step toward environmental sustainability.
“This initiative contributes directly to multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” Dr. Azih noted, citing SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships).
The gesture was met with appreciation from school authorities and community stakeholders. The Head Teacher of Moslem Primary School, Ososa, Mr. Idris Olakunle, and the Chairman of the School-Based Management Committee for Kosofe LGA, Mr. Kehinde Dare, lauded the company for the impactful donation. They described the support as timely and far-reaching, benefiting not just pupils but also teachers, parents, and the wider community.
Both, however, appealed for continued engagement from Rite Foods Ltd to sustain and expand the support to more schools across the country.
