The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to technical education by announcing that all Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs) across the country will now be fully funded.

In a statement released in Abuja, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, Folasade Boriowo, confirmed that tuition fees would be completely free. She added that the government would also cover all approved charges, including boarding, uniforms, textbooks, exercise books, prospectuses, ID cards, stationery, clubs and societies, medical services, vocational activities, utilities, security, website/e-result platforms, Skool Media, extra lessons, and insurance.

Quoting the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, Boriowo noted that the initiative ensures every Nigerian child has equal access to technical education. Alausa emphasized that no principal or administrator is permitted to impose unauthorized payments on parents or guardians. He also directed that circulars reinforcing this policy be issued to all schools and parents.

Parents have been urged to report any cases of illegal charges directly to the Ministry through the following channels:
Hotline: 0803 657 6733, 0803 637 3796
Email: [email protected]

Alausa explained that the policy aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the center of human capital development.

“No Nigerian child should be denied access to technical education because of illegal charges. By investing in education today, we are building a stronger, self-reliant Nigeria,” the minister stated.

He clarified, however, that while tuition and core expenses would be fully covered by the government, boarding students were still expected to provide their own personal items.
