The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to transforming Nigeria’s 115 Federal Unity Colleges into centres of academic excellence, innovation, and national unity.
This assurance was given by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, during the 2025 Annual General Meeting of Principals of Federal Unity Colleges held in Lagos.
Prof. Ahmad urged principals to remain dedicated to the mission of reforming and revitalizing secondary education across the country, emphasizing that the transformation of the education sector is a key component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
She identified curriculum reform, teacher professionalization, and the integration of digital technology as major pillars of the ministry’s strategic vision for education reform.
According to the Minister, the Federal Ministry of Education will continue to strengthen collaboration with key institutions such as the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) to ensure ongoing teacher certification and capacity building across all unity schools.
Prof. Ahmad reaffirmed the government’s determination to uphold high standards in teaching and learning by promoting innovation-driven education and improving digital literacy among students and teachers.
During the meeting, outstanding Federal Unity Colleges were honoured for their excellent performance in national examinations. Prof. Ahmad said the recognition reflects the government’s continued commitment to promoting excellence, unity, and innovation in Nigeria’s education system.
She further assured that the Ministry remains focused on providing Unity Colleges with the resources, training, and support required to deliver quality and inclusive education, equipping every student with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a modern, technology-driven society.
