Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti; Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo; and the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo State, have all received full accreditation for multiple academic programmes from their respective regulatory bodies.
EKSU was granted approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for 18 postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. ACU secured full accreditation for nine programmes, while the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, received the National Board for Technical Education’s (NBTE) approval for four National Diploma (ND) programmes.
A letter dated April 30, 2025, and signed by NUC’s Acting Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, confirmed EKSU’s accreditation following the NUC’s October/November 2024 assessment exercise.
The EKSU programmes accredited include Master’s degrees in Personnel Management, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, Arts, Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, and Philosophy. Other accredited courses cover Building and Woodwork Technology Education, Electrical and Electronic Technology Education, Metal and Auto Mechanic Technology Education, Education Christian Religious Studies, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Law, Geology, and Psychology.
Bode Olofinmuagun, Head of EKSU’s Directorate of Information, announced the accreditation in a statement on Monday. EKSU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatola Ayodele, described the achievement as “a dream come true” and credited the university’s academic and administrative staff for their tireless efforts. He also highlighted EKSU’s rising status as Nigeria’s best state university, according to the Times Higher Education 2025 rankings, affirming the university’s commitment to providing education in cutting-edge and relevant fields.
At Ajayi Crowther University, the NUC granted full accreditation to Nursing, Environmental Health Science, Christian Religious Studies, History and International Studies, Music, Performing Arts, Law, Mathematics, and Statistics programmes. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme was also approved. This accreditation was confirmed in a letter signed by Chundusu and dated April 30, 2025.
The NUC conducted its assessment at ACU between October and November 2024. ACU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, stated that the accreditation reflects the university’s dedication to academic excellence and integrity. He thanked the NUC for its transparent process and commended the university’s staff and students for their role in this success.
Meanwhile, the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, celebrated NBTE’s full accreditation of four ND programmes: Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Science Laboratory Technology, and Statistics. The NBTE also approved the introduction of a new ND programme in Office Technology and Management.
According to a statement from the polytechnic’s Protocol and Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sunday Adepoju, the accreditation exercise took place from April 10 to 12, 2025.
The institution’s Rector, Dr. Taofeek Abdul-Hameed, described the accreditation as proof of the polytechnic’s commitment to excellence in technical and vocational education. He noted that with the addition of the new programme, the school now offers 13 ND courses.
Previously accredited programmes at the polytechnic include Accountancy, Business Administration and Management, Public Administration, Urban and Regional Planning, Estate Management and Valuation, Tourism Management Technology, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, and Agricultural Technology.
Dr. Abdul-Hameed pledged the institution would continue striving for higher academic achievements.
