The Delta State Government has shut down six unapproved schools in Oshimili-North Local Government Area for failing to comply with registration requirements.
The action followed an inspection visit on Monday by a monitoring team set up to enforce the state government’s directive on proper registration of primary schools.
Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, who led the team, identified the affected schools as Splendour Care Nursery and Primary School, Immortal Dominion Academy, Glorious Height Nursery and Primary School, Magnified Mercy Nursery and Primary School, CossyJully Academy, and Ducams Schools, all located in Okpanam, Oshimili-North.
According to the commissioner, the schools were sealed for operating without government approval and running unaccredited educational programmes.
“The ministry has issued several warnings to all unregistered primary schools across the state to regularise their status. This decision is not to witch-hunt anyone, but to safeguard the academic well-being of our children,” Ashibogwu stated.
He further explained that the affected schools would remain closed until they obtain formal approval from the Ministry of Primary Education.
