The University of Toronto Mastercard Foundation Scholarship is a fully funded graduate program at one of Canada’s top institutions of learning, research, and innovation. Selected scholars will receive complete financial coverage for tuition, accommodation, meals, laptop, living stipends, and travel expenses. Beyond funding, participants will gain networks, leadership skills, and the capacity to make meaningful contributions to healthcare ecosystems in Africa.
Upon completing their studies, scholars are expected to return to their home countries to work in diverse health-related professions or through self-employment, thereby contributing to improved health outcomes across Africa.

The University of Toronto collaborates with the Foundation to nurture Africa’s next generation of healthcare leaders. The program supports academically talented young people committed to returning home to drive socioeconomic and healthcare development.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a resident and citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country
- Demonstrate financial need equivalent to the lowest two quintiles in their home country
- Show outstanding academic results in their educational system
- Have a strong record of leadership and extracurricular participation
- Intend to return to Africa to support socioeconomic and healthcare growth
- Be graduating from a recognized secondary institution or have completed the necessary entry requirements
- Meet English language requirements (depending on country of origin)
Scholarship Benefits
