Eligibility Criteria

To be qualified for The University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have applied for and meet the entry requirements for a Master’s or Doctorate by research degree commencing in the award year
  • Intend to undertake graduate research in the field of Human Rights
  • Not have already completed a research qualification at the same or higher level as the proposed course
  • Not have previously received a graduate research scholarship

Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants of The University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship will receive:

  • Living allowance of $43,500 per year (pro rata for 2025 full-time study rate), up to 2 years for Master’s and 3.5 years for PhD students
  • Full tuition fee offset for up to 2 years (Masters) or up to 4 years (PhD)
  • Relocation grant of $2,000 for students moving from other Australian States/Territories or $3,000 for those moving from outside Australia
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership for international students requiring a student visa
