Scholarship Details

The awarded position will be hosted by the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Department of Animal, Veterinary and Food Sciences at the University of Idaho. However, the role will be based at the Nancy M. Cummings Research, Extension and Education Center (NMCREEC).

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead a team of students and seasonal technicians
  • Collaborate closely with local cattle producers and agency professionals
  • Participate in multidisciplinary research across state and federal land management systems

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this opportunity, applicants must:

  • Have a completed Master’s degree in a related field (must be completed within 3 months of starting the position)
  • Possess strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Be detail-oriented, hardworking, and hold a valid driver’s license
  • Be comfortable working in rugged, remote conditions and under variable weather
  • Have experience in one or more of the following:
    • Vegetation monitoring
    • Livestock handling
    • Agricultural technology
    • Geographic mapping (e.g. ArcGIS, onX)

Additional Preferences Include:

  • History of publication or grant writing
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement or public presentations
  • Familiarity with rural living, ranch work, ATV/UTV and 4WD vehicle operation, or trailer towing

Scholarship Benefits
