Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the University of Hamburg Merit Scholarship, applicants must:
- Have been enrolled in their subject at the University of Hamburg for at least 2 semesters (students in 2-year Master’s programmes and doctoral researchers may apply after 1 completed semester)
- Not hold German citizenship
- Not be eligible for the federal student loan scheme
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of this scholarship will receive:
- Maximum monthly funding of €930, with doctoral researchers potentially receiving up to €1,200 per month depending on funding availability
- Scholarships are awarded for 2 semesters (12 months), with the possibility to reapply
- In exceptional cases, the scholarship may be extended up to 3 years
