Scholarship Details

Applications are now open for the University of Edinburgh 2025 Ailie Donald Scholarship for Master’s students.

The scholarship is awarded for postgraduate Master’s study in English and/or Historical Linguistics, within the School of Philosophy, Psychology & Language Sciences. The award will be tenable for the 2025–2026 academic year and the scholarship amount will be automatically deducted from your tuition fee.

The scholarship covers the UK tuition fee rate; however, international applicants will be responsible for paying the difference between the UK fee and the international tuition rate. Preference will be given to applicants for the MSc by Research programmes and graduates of the University of Edinburgh.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the University of Edinburgh Ailie Donald Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have, or expect to obtain, a First Class Honours degree at undergraduate level or the international equivalent.
  • Have been accepted for admission into one of the following programs at the University of Edinburgh’s School of Philosophy, Psychology & Language Sciences:
    • MSc English Language
    • MSc by Research English Language
    • MSc Linguistics
    • MSc by Research Linguistics
