The University of Alberta Graduate Scholarship is a fully funded Master’s and PhD opportunity for international students to study in one of Canada’s top-ranking institutions. The University of Alberta Scholarship will provide funding that covers tuition fees and living stipends for selected applicants.

This funding is renewable each year until the program is completed. The scholarship opportunity is open to all nationalities and does not require IELTS.

Scholarship Details

The Programmable Integrated Sensors and Microsystems (PRISM) Lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking outstanding PhD/Master’s students to join the lab from July 2025.

The project aims to develop high-resolution microfabrication processes for microsystems, including flexible sensors and liquid metal microfluidic systems. Dr. Pegah Pezeshkpour, Director of the PRISM Lab, leads innovative interdisciplinary research in engineering and materials science to create scalable and reconfigurable microsystems. These microsystems are developed using cutting-edge microfabrication processes and advanced materials for use in health, energy monitoring devices, and assistive technologies.

Lab members will benefit from access to state-of-the-art fabrication, testing, and characterization facilities in a dynamic and collaborative research environment.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the University of Alberta Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Have a completed Bachelor’s/Master’s of Science (or Engineering) degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Show a keen interest in, and/or experience (research or industrial) in the fabrication of microsystems
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills
