Scholarship Details
The UNESCO/China Great Wall Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme 2026–2027 is now accepting applications. This initiative offers a fully funded academic opportunity for postgraduate students and researchers to pursue advanced studies and research in China.
It supports candidates from 135 developing countries, providing tuition coverage, free accommodation, and a monthly stipend. Beneficiary nations under the UNESCO-China Fund-in-Trust (CFIT) Project are particularly encouraged to nominate candidates in relevant education fields. In line with UNESCO’s priority areas: Gender Equality, Africa, and Small Island Developing States (SIDS)—women and applicants from Africa and SIDS are strongly encouraged to apply.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the UNESCO Great Wall China Fellowship 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- One-Year Visiting Scholar Programmes:
- General Scholars: High school diploma; maximum age 45
- Senior Scholars: Master’s degree or associate professor rank (or above); maximum age 50
- Language: English required; for Chinese-taught programmes, HSK Level 3 required
- Degree Programmes (Masters & PhD):
- Master’s Applicants: Bachelor’s degree; maximum age 35
- Doctoral Applicants: Master’s degree; maximum age 40
- Language: English required; for Chinese-taught programmes, HSK Level 4 required
- Must also meet university admission requirements
- Must be mentally and physically fit
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the UNESCO Great Wall China Scholarship will receive:
- Full tuition waiver for the entire study duration
- Free on-campus accommodation
- Monthly living allowance:
- CNY 3,000 for General Scholars
- CNY 3,500 for Senior Scholars and Postgraduate Students
