The Maastricht University Bright Talents Scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for international students to pursue postgraduate studies in Europe. The scholarship is closely tied to the Brightlands Campi, which bring together students, researchers, and entrepreneurs to collaborate on innovative projects across diverse sectors such as chemistry and materials, agrifood, health, data science, and smart digital services. The initiative not only funds students but also cultivates innovation and leadership to drive global impact.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the UM Bright Talents Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must hold a nationality outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland and fulfill the visa and residence permit requirements for the Netherlands.
- Must not hold dual nationality from any EU/EEA country or Switzerland.
- Must not have previously enrolled in a degree-seeking program in the Netherlands. (Students who participated in short exchange programs are eligible to apply.)
- Must not be older than 35 years by September 1, 2026.
- Must agree to serve as an active Brightlands and UM ambassador during and after their studies by sharing experiences during at least one information session for students or other stakeholders.
- Must have applied for admission to a participating master’s program at Maastricht University for the 2026–2027 academic year.
- Must meet the specific admission criteria for the master’s program applied to.
- Must submit a complete application package as documents cannot be added or replaced after submission.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the Maastricht University UM Bright Talents Scholarship will receive:
- Full tuition fee coverage.
- €15,925 annual living stipend (€1,225 per month).
- Coverage of travel expenses.
- Free accommodation, with a mandatory room allocation. (Acceptance of the scholarship implies acceptance of the provided accommodation.)
