Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Swansea University International Excellence Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Apply for an eligible PhD or Professional Doctorate program at Swansea University. (Click here for the full list of eligible courses)
- Hold, or expect to hold, a First Class or 2:1 UK undergraduate degree, or an equivalent international qualification
- Or have a Distinction in a UK Master’s degree (or international equivalent)
- Be classified as an international student, and eligible to pay the international tuition fee rate
- Not currently be enrolled in a Swansea PhD or Professional Doctorate program (returning/transfer students not eligible)
- Not be applying for a Master’s level course
- Not be fully sponsored by a third party (such as a government or employer)
Note: Meeting the minimum academic requirement does not guarantee the scholarship—candidates must demonstrate excellence beyond academics in their application.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful candidates will receive:
- A scholarship that covers the tuition fee difference between international and home student rates
- Tuition fee charged at the UK home rate throughout the program
- £4,786 for 2024/25
- £5,006 for 2025/26 (subject to annual increase by approximately 3% in line with UKRI policy)
- The scholarship value is deducted directly from tuition fees
