Scholarship Details
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a Federal Government agency dedicated to developing human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. As part of this mission, the PTDF invites qualified Nigerians to apply for its 2025/2026 Overseas Scholarship Scheme.
The program provides scholars with the chance to study at selected partner institutions overseas and in Nigeria. It aims to enhance skills, promote knowledge transfer, and contribute to national development through education in key areas relevant to the energy sector.
Eligibility Criteria
For Master’s Degree Applicants:
- Must have a minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in their first degree, or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience
- Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
- Must be computer literate
- Must possess 5 O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics
- Must submit a Statement of Purpose (max 500 words) on the relevance of the intended study
- Must have a National Identity Number (NIN) and complete NIMC verification
For PhD Applicants:
- Must have completed NYSC
- Must possess a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in their first degree and a good postgraduate degree
- Must provide 5 O’Level credits including English and Mathematics
- Must write a research proposal (max 5 pages) relevant to the oil and gas industry (including topic, objectives, methodology, and data collection methods)
- University lecturers must provide a letter from their Vice Chancellor confirming they are not receiving other scholarships
- Must have a NIN and complete NIMC verification
