Program Details
The POHER Mentorship and Research Scholarship Program introduces participants to the principles of scientific research, career guidance, and collaborative learning through engagement with a network of experienced mentors and peers across Africa.
Scholars will gain foundational knowledge in clinical research and good clinical practice (GCP) while participating in research progress meetings and mentorship sessions. The program also offers scholars the opportunity to present their research ideas to experts, develop professional relationships, and access educational resources to enhance their academic and career growth.
This program is designed to empower future African healthcare leaders by nurturing their research capabilities and leadership potential.

Note: This program does not cover medical school tuition.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the POHER Mentorship and Research Scholarship Program 2025, applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled in an African medical school (MD, MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent).
- Show a demonstrated interest in research (prior experience is not required).
- Have motivation and commitment to receive research and career mentorship.
- Expect to graduate after January 2026.
- Show evidence of leadership potential and initiative.
- Be willing to actively participate in all program activities, including virtual meetings and educational webinars.
Prior research experience is not a pre-requisite to apply.
