Scholarship Details
The PBEEE (Programme de bourses d’excellence pour étudiants étrangers) Canada Merit Scholarship aims to promote the internationalization of research and higher education in Québec. It targets international students holding a valid study visa or work permit who wish to pursue or continue postgraduate studies or research in Québec’s top institutions.
The program supports the Québec government’s science policy through the following objectives:

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the PBEEE Canada Merit Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Be an international student
- Not be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
- Not have submitted an application for Canadian permanent residency under immigration law
- Be recommended by a supervising professor or thesis advisor
- Be applying to commence or continue a graduate degree program at an eligible university in Québec
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the PBEEE Scholarship will receive funding based on their program level:
- Master’s Degree: $20,000 per year (up to 2 years)
- Doctoral Degree: $25,000 per year (up to 3 years)
- Short-term Research or Professional Development: $3,000 per month (up to 4 months)
- Postdoctoral Research: $35,000 (one-time, maximum of 3 instalments within one year)
These financial awards are intended to cover living costs and support the academic goals of recipients while they study or conduct research in Québec.
