Scholarship Details
The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) and the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) are designed to promote excellence in graduate studies at publicly funded universities across Ontario.
Both scholarships are co-funded by the Government of Ontario and participating universities, with the government covering two-thirds of the total award amount and the university contributing the remaining one-third.
The OGS is open to students from all academic disciplines and is available to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and international students enrolled at participating institutions in Ontario.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS), applicants must:
- Be enrolled in graduate studies at either the master’s or doctoral level.
- Be registered in a full-time program spanning at least 2 terms (between 21 and 52 weeks) during the academic year of application.
- Attend one of the participating Ontario universities listed below.
- Meet merit-based criteria determined by the university where they plan to study, as applications are evaluated and ranked by individual institutions.
Scholarship Benefits
The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) provides financial support based on the number of consecutive academic terms a student completes in one academic year:
- $10,000 for 2 consecutive academic terms
- $15,000 for 3 consecutive academic terms
Each OGS award can be held for:
- A minimum of 1 academic year (2 or 3 consecutive terms)
- A maximum of 2 years (up to 6 consecutive terms)
