Scholarship Details
The Northern Michigan University Graduate Assistantship is a fully funded academic position offered through the Energetics Lab. The selected Master’s student will work on a research project titled “Seasonal Changes of the Cardiac Proteome and Heart Functionality During Winter Hibernation.” The program begins in Fall 2026 and is a joint research collaboration between Dr. Sylvain Giroud of Northern Michigan University and Dr. Fabrice Bertile of CNRS, Strasbourg, France.
The goal of the project is to examine how heart function and cardiac proteome composition change seasonally in small hibernating species.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Northern Michigan University Scholarship, applicants must:
- Have a strong theoretical and practical background in Animal Physiology and Cellular/Molecular Physiology
- Demonstrate willingness to learn and use data analytical software
- Have previous experience with statistics, including programming using R software
