Scholarship Details

Applications are open for the Master of Science (MS) position at the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Ecology in collaboration with the JTH Forestry Research Center at New Mexico State University. The scholarship focuses on exploring the social dimensions of post-wildfire reforestation in the southwestern United States.

Selected students will engage in assessing land manager perceptions, participation levels, and social outcomes of post-wildfire reforestation projects. This program provides an opportunity to contribute to significant research that connects environmental science with social engagement and policy.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the New Mexico State University Masters Scholarship 2026, applicants must:

  • Hold an undergraduate degree in the natural or social sciences, particularly in subjects relevant to this position.
  • Demonstrate experience working with stakeholders or communities on natural resource topics in the United States.
  • Have familiarity or experience related to forest management or wildfire research in the U.S. (desirable).
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent time-management and organizational abilities.
