Scholarship Details
The MTN Foundation MUSON Scholarship is a full-time diploma program in music for students interested in pursuing a professional music career. The program is structured to produce well-rounded musicians equipped to transfer into university music degree programs or enter the music industry at a high level.
The MUSON School of Music is modeled after international conservatoires, and its curriculum is designed to reflect those global standards.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the MTN Foundation MUSON Music Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Academic Requirements:
- Five (5) credits in either:
- GCE Ordinary Level (including English Language), or
- SSCE (including English Language)
- The five credits must have been obtained at not more than two sittings before admission into the diploma course.
Music Requirements:
- Practical: Grade 5 or higher pass certificate from the MUSON School of Music or any recognized music examination body
- Theory: Grade 5 or higher pass certificate from the MUSON School of Music or any recognized music examination body
Note: Applicants who show outstanding practical ability but are deficient in theory may be admitted on the condition that they complete a remedial theory course and pass the required grade in their first year.

- Advanced training in various majors including:
- Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
- Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion
- Classical Guitar, Voice
- Students will also study a minor instrument outside their main specialization for two terms
- All voice students must pass Grade 2 Piano
- All instrumentalists must pass vocal techniques
- Membership in the MUSON Choir is mandatory for all students
- Orchestra is required for string majors; band is mandatory for wind and percussion majors
- Other students may audition for the orchestra or band

- The entrance examination will take place from September 3rd to September 6th, 2024, and will include:
- A written examination in music theory (Grade 5 level) and general music knowledge
- An audition on a major instrument or voice (minimum Grade 5 level) before a faculty panel
- An oral interview
