The French Government has announced the opening of the Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) Visiting Fellowship Program 2026, offering early career international researchers the opportunity to conduct research in France.

This fully funded fellowship provides financial support, health insurance, and relocation assistance to help fellows contribute to global climate change research.

Fellowship Details

France, recognized as a leading force in the global climate movement and guardian of the Paris Agreement, has launched the seventh edition of the MOPGA Visiting Fellowship Program. This initiative seeks to strengthen scientific contributions to climate-related issues discussed at the COPs.

At least 40 early career researchers will be welcomed under this program to carry out their projects in France. The fellowship is funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the French Ministry for Higher Education and Research, and is implemented by Campus France.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the MOPGA Fellowship 2026, applicants must:

  • Be foreign researchers holding a doctoral degree obtained within the last 5 years.
  • Hold any nationality except French.

Fellowship Benefits

Successful fellows under the MOPGA program will receive:

  • A monthly allowance of €2,500.
  • A moving allowance of €500.
  • A health insurance plan covering civil liability and repatriation assistance until registration with the French Social Security system.
  • Complementary health coverage once the Social Security registration is complete.

Required Documents

Applicants must prepare the following documents for submission:

  • CV (maximum 4 pages) in English, including a list of publications.
  • PhD Diploma (or official certificate).
  • CV of research supervisor in the French host institution (2 pages max).
  • Letter of support from the French host institution.
  • Up to three recommendation letters.
  • Passport or proof of identification.
