Scholarship Details

The Mauritius Government Scholarship is a major initiative supporting deserving students across the African continent to pursue higher education in Mauritius. The program assists successful candidates with tuition fees and provides financial support to cover their living expenses throughout their stay. In addition, the scholarship includes a return airfare from the applicant’s home country at the beginning of studies and back upon completion.

Applications are submitted through the applicant’s country’s Nominating Agency (usually the Ministry of Education), which is responsible for selecting and forwarding nominees to Mauritius for the final award decision.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Mauritius Government Scholarship, applicants must:

For Undergraduate Programs:

  • Be at least 18 years old and not older than 25 years by January 1, 2027
  • Have applied for a full-time on-campus diploma or degree program at a recognized public university in Mauritius
  • Meet the academic requirements specified by the institution of choice

For PhD Programs:

  • Not be older than 40 years by January 1, 2027
  • Have applied for a full-time on-campus MPhil or PhD program in a recognized Mauritius institution
  • Demonstrate ability to undertake independent research

General Requirement (All Applicants):

  • Must apply through their country’s Ministry of Education / Nominating Agency
  • Application cannot be submitted directly to Mauritius by the candidate

How To Apply

To apply for the Mauritius Government Scholarship:
