This opportunity is open to young African professionals who are passionate about driving change through education and leadership.

The MasterCard Scholarship 2026 offers full financial support for a 2-year master’s degree program in the United States, covering tuition, accommodation, visa processing, airfare, books, meals, and living expenses. The scholarship also takes care of application fees and English proficiency test costs.

Scholarship Details

Arizona State University, in collaboration with the MasterCard Foundation, invites qualified African graduates to apply for the 2026 MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program. This fully immersive, on-campus master’s program aims to train professionals in educational technology (EdTech) and related disciplines for the African context.

Through this initiative, the foundation will award 30 scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year, as part of a broader plan to support 120 African professionals between 2025 and 2030. Successful candidates will not only receive financial assistance but will also benefit from leadership training, personalized mentorship, and community development engagement as part of the wider Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at ASU.

During the academic session, scholars will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by working part-time with the Baobab team to support the platform’s strategic goals.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the MasterCard Scholarship at Arizona State University, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of an African country and committed to ethical leadership and community engagement
  • Be aged between 18 and 33 years on or before the application deadline
  • Have earned a bachelor’s degree by July 2025
  • Not have started or completed any other graduate program before August 2025
  • Be academically qualified for the master’s program of interest, including meeting English language proficiency requirements
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance and leadership potential
  • Show financial need and a track record of community service
  • Be available to live in Phoenix, Arizona, for the duration of the program
