Internship Details
The Mastercard Foundation Internship Program 2026 is designed for ambitious, career-driven young professionals with limited or no work experience. It offers meaningful exposure to real-world projects, training, and mentorship while supporting the Foundation’s operations, partnerships, and impact programs across Africa.
This program aligns with the Foundation’s Young Africa Works strategy, which seeks to empower millions of young Africans, especially women, by equipping them with skills, knowledge, and opportunities to thrive in employment or entrepreneurship. Interns will work directly with African institutions, private sector partners, and government stakeholders, gaining valuable insight into international development and economic transformation.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Mastercard Foundation Internship 2026, applicants must:
- Be eligible to work in one of the seven African countries where the Foundation operates: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, and Uganda
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any field from a recognized institution
- Be a recent graduate with 0 – 4 years’ work experience
- Demonstrate interest in youth development, social impact, and inclusive growth in Africa
- Be actively engaged in community projects or extracurricular activities
- Commit to the full-time internship duration without engaging in other work
- Mastercard Foundation Scholar Alumni are eligible, but must not be currently enrolled in any program of study
Skills and Competencies Required
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and/or Google Workspace
- Ability to thrive in multicultural and collaborative environments
- Passion for innovation, learning, and driving positive change in Africa
- Strong organizational and time management skills
