Scholarship Details
The Global Studies bachelor’s programme equips students with the skills and knowledge to address complex global challenges while working across disciplines and cultures. It is unique in the Netherlands because six different faculties contribute equally to the programme’s academic structure.
As part of the programme, students can participate in a field study in the Global South, design interventions for societal challenges in collaboration with NGOs, government agencies, or firms, and complete an interdisciplinary bachelor thesis.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Maastricht University Global Studies Scholarship, you must:
- Hold nationality from a country in the Global South (Africa, Asia including the Middle East, Latin America, or the Caribbean as defined by the OECD)
- Not possess dual nationality from a Global North country
- Have never studied a full degree programme in the Netherlands (exchange students are eligible)
- Be under 35 years of age as of September 1, 2026
- Commit to becoming an active UM and Global Studies ambassador during and after your programme, including sharing experiences in at least one information session
- Have applied for admission into the Global Studies bachelor programme at Maastricht University for the 2026–2027 academic year
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of this scholarship will receive:
- Full tuition fee waiver and coverage of study costs
- Annual stipend of €15,925 for living expenses (approximately €1,225 per month)
- Additional support for accommodation and travel expenses
- An opportunity to join a diverse academic and international community
