The 2026 Kansas State University Scholarship is offered through the Department of Geology, which is currently recruiting two fully funded M.S. students to join Dr. Jeeban Panthi’s HydroSystem Lab beginning in Summer or Fall 2026. The research group specializes in hydrogeophysics, numerical modeling, remote sensing, and field-based studies that explore groundwater–surface water interaction, water availability, and water quality across Kansas, the High Plains region, and other areas.
The selected student will work on a research project centered on investigating unsaturated-zone processes to improve satellite-based hydrologic assessments. As part of the program, the student will develop vadose zone models for western Kansas using soil moisture observations, geophysical data such as ERI and NMR, alongside remote sensing tools like GRACE and SMAP.
