Scholarship Details
The MEXT Scholarship at Asia Pacific University is awarded through a recommendation system coordinated by APU and funded by the Japanese government. It is intended to promote international cooperation and strengthen global competitiveness by attracting outstanding international students.
Applicants selected by Asia Pacific University will be recommended to MEXT, which will make the final decision on scholarship recipients. The award aims to support talented individuals seeking advanced academic degrees while contributing to the diversification and excellence of Japan’s higher education sector.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the MEXT Scholarship at Asia Pacific University, applicants must:
- Be an international student eligible to study in Japan
- Be a national of a country designated by MEXT
- Be born on or after April 2, 1991
- Have achieved a minimum GPA of 2.30 on a 3.00 scale in their most recent academic program
- Hold a valid passport and visa
- Have taken an English proficiency test with a score dated on or after March 24, 2024
Additional Notes:
- Applicants currently serving in the military or employed by the military are not eligible
- Selected scholars must arrive in Japan within the period specified by APU
- Individuals who have previously received a MEXT scholarship must have completed at least 3 years of research or academic activity since their last award
- Applicants must not be receiving another scholarship during their study at APU
- All recipients must hold a “student” visa status while in Japan
Scholarship Benefits
Successful candidates for the Japan MEXT Scholarship at APU will receive:
- Full admission fee waiver
- Full tuition fee coverage
- Monthly allowance of 144,000 JPY (amount subject to change)
- Economy class round-trip airfare between the home country and APU
- Medical insurance
- Support for books and academic materials
