The InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition 8.0 is now open for applications from secondary school students across Nigeria.
Recognized as Nigeria’s largest STEM competition, InterswitchSPAK aims to identify and support young innovators in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The initiative provides a platform for talented students to showcase their knowledge while competing for prestigious scholarships and rewards.
The competition is designed to encourage academic excellence and nurture the next generation of scientists and innovators in Nigeria.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition, applicants must:
- Be a Year 11 (SS2) science student
- Be between 14 and 17 years old
Selection Process
- Registration closes at 11:59 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, and participation is completely FREE
- Schools can register up to twenty (20) SS2 science students each
- The qualifying examination is fully online, meaning students can take it from school, home, or any convenient location
- Online CBT examinations will run from June 9 to June 16, 2026, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM daily
- Students can choose a preferred day and time within the examination window
- Each student will have two attempts, and the system will automatically select the better score
Gender Requirement
- Mixed schools must register at least two (2) female students among the students submitted for the competition.

How to Apply
To apply for the InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition, interested and qualified candidates should:
- Register for the competition HERE
The competition offers two registration options:
Individual Registration
- Parents or guardians can register their children directly on the platform
- This option is suitable for home-schooled students or students whose schools are not participating
School Registration
- Schools must register a minimum of six (6) and a maximum of twenty (20) SS2 science students
Schools are encouraged to present their best science students regardless of religion, tribe, or state of origin to improve their chances of advancing to the next stage.
Competition Stages
First Stage
- All registered candidates will participate in the first round of the online qualifying examination according to the schedule provided by the organizers.
Second Stage
- Students who score 75% and above in the first round will proceed to the second online qualifying stage.
- From this stage, the best 81 students will move on to Stage Two (the TV Quiz Show).
Exam Format
- The examination will take place within five (5) days, running 8 hours each day
- Students can choose any available day and time within the examination window
- Each student will have a 5-minute demo session to become familiar with the testing platform before starting the exam
- All candidates will have two attempts, and the higher score will be recorded
