The National Scholarship Programme (NSP) of the Slovak Republic is financed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, as part of the country’s long-standing development cooperation efforts. For the 2026 academic cycle, the scholarship offers funding to eligible international students, PhD candidates, researchers, and university teachers to undertake studies or academic stays at Slovak higher education institutions and research organizations.
This programme serves as a platform to foster academic mobility and international collaboration. Selected candidates will receive support for their living costs, accommodation, and travel expenses, and may request assistance with administrative matters through their host institutions in Slovakia.
Eligibility Criteria
To be qualified for the Government of Slovak Republic National Scholarship Programme 2026, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of a country outside Slovakia
- Be university students at institutions outside Slovakia who:
- Are pursuing a Master’s degree (second level of higher education), or
- Have completed at least 2.5 years of university study in a relevant program
- Have been accepted for an academic mobility/study stay in Slovakia
- Be PhD students enrolled at institutions outside Slovakia who are accepted for research or academic training in Slovakia
- Be international university teachers, researchers, or artists invited for a teaching, research, or creative stay in Slovakia
- Be accepted by a public, private, or state-accredited Slovak institution for the intended study or research
- Meet the language requirements in English, French, Slovak, or Spanish, depending on the program
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the Government of Slovak Republic National Scholarship Programme 2026 will receive:
