Internship Details
The Government of Japan, through METI, is offering its internship program for global talent to gain skills and professional experience with Japanese companies.
The internship will be held in both summer and winter batches, with about 200 interns selected each year. The 6-week program is designed to promote international collaboration and provide interns with exposure to Japan’s work environment.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the METI Internship, applicants must:
- Agree with the objectives of the internship program and support Japanese companies in their global outreach
- Hold citizenship from eligible countries or regions
- Be proficient in either Japanese (JLPT N3 or above) or English
- Be between the ages of 18 and 40 as of August 1, 2025
- Be able to provide a certificate of enrollment and letter of recommendation (for undergraduates)
- Be able to provide a graduation certificate and recommendation letter (for graduates)
- Submit relevant qualification certificates (IELTS, TOEFL, JLPT, etc.)
- Be available to commit fully to the internship schedule provided by the program
- Meet any additional company-specific requirements
Internship Benefits
Selected participants will receive:
- Pre-training program covering business processes, work eligibility, and internship expectations
- Assistance with obtaining a Japanese visa
- Round-trip airfare
- Accommodation arrangements
- Internship insurance
- Personal computer (provided by the host company or program office)
- Daily activity support fund:
- ¥3,000 per day for in-person internships
- ¥1,000 per day equivalent in local currency for online internships
