Eligibility Criteria

General Requirements (All Regions):

  • Students already supported by comparable industry awards are ineligible (government or non-profit funding is exempt)
  • Past awardees cannot reapply

Region-Specific Requirements:

  • Africa, India, Latin America, Southeast Asia: Incoming or early-stage PhD students may be nominated; fellowship contingent on full-time PhD registration in computer science or related field
  • Australia & New Zealand: Early-stage students in the first or second year of PhD eligible
  • Canada & United States: Students who have completed graduate coursework in PhD by the award year eligible
  • East Asia: Students with most graduate coursework completed and sufficient time for research projects eligible
  • Europe & Middle East: Students at any stage of PhD eligible

  • Applicant essay (350 words max) addressing:
    • Impact of receiving this fellowship on education
    • Circumstances affecting scholarship need and educational goals
