Eligibility Criteria
General Requirements (All Regions):
- Must be enrolled full-time in a PhD program during the fellowship
- Google employees, and their spouses, children, or household members are not eligible
- Students already supported by comparable industry awards are ineligible (government or non-profit funding is exempt)
- Past awardees cannot reapply
Region-Specific Requirements:
- Africa, India, Latin America, Southeast Asia: Incoming or early-stage PhD students may be nominated; fellowship contingent on full-time PhD registration in computer science or related field
- Australia & New Zealand: Early-stage students in the first or second year of PhD eligible
- Canada & United States: Students who have completed graduate coursework in PhD by the award year eligible
- East Asia: Students with most graduate coursework completed and sufficient time for research projects eligible
- Europe & Middle East: Students at any stage of PhD eligible
Program Benefits
