Scholarship Details
For the 2026 academic year, the Korean Government will welcome 2,200 international students under the Global Korea Scholarship program. Applicants can apply either through the Embassy Track or University Track, depending on their preference. Undergraduate programs typically last between four to six years, including one year of Korean language study.
The Master’s program consists of one year of Korean language study plus two years of academic study, while the Doctoral program includes one year of Korean language study and three years of academic coursework. Applications for the GKS graduate tracks will officially open in February 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Global Korea Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Hold citizenship of NIIED-designated countries invited to participate in the program.
- Meet minimum CGPA requirements from their previous degree program, such as:
- 80% or higher on a 100-point scale, or top 20% of the class.
- CGPA of at least 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, or 3.23/5.0.
- Be under 25 years old for undergraduate applications and under 40 years old for graduate applications (born after September 1, 1985).
- Be in good physical and mental health to study in Korea for the program’s full duration.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected candidates for the Global Korea Scholarship will receive:
- Economy class round-trip airfare ticket.
- Full tuition coverage.
- Study incentives and financial support:
- Korean Language Program: ₩12,840,000 per year.
- Undergraduate Degree Program: ₩13,680,000 per year.
- NIIED provides up to ₩5 million KRW, while universities cover additional tuition fees beyond that.
- Monthly living allowance, health insurance, Korean proficiency grants, settlement allowance, TOPIK exam fees, and degree completion grants.
