The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) is now inviting applications for the Spring 2026 intake. The GIST University Scholarship is available for Master’s, Integrated Master’s leading to PhD, and Doctoral degree programs.

This prestigious fully funded opportunity is open to applicants from all countries and includes tuition fees, accommodation, meals, monthly stipends, health insurance, and airfare. Unlike many other Korean universities, GIST does not charge an application fee, and all international students are automatically considered for the scholarship.

Scholarship Details

The GIST Scholarship is designed to attract exceptional international talent and support their advanced studies in South Korea. All admitted international students automatically receive the scholarship, which covers tuition fees, living expenses, and research support.

Courses at GIST are taught entirely in English, making it accessible to applicants from diverse backgrounds. Applicants without an English proficiency test score may still apply, but if selected, they will be required to submit proof of language ability before enrollment.

Degree Programs and Duration

  • Master of Science (M.S.): 2 years (maximum completion time – 3 years)
  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): 4 years (maximum completion time – 7 years)
  • Integrated M.S. and Ph.D.: (maximum completion time – 8 years)

  • IELTS: 6.5
  • TOEIC: 750
  • NEW TEPS: 285

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be citizens of any country outside Korea
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree equivalent to a Korean bachelor’s degree
  • Meet the GIST admission requirements
