Scholarship Details

Founded in 2001, the Developing Solutions Scholarship is designed for international students who are committed to contributing to the development of key economic, environmental, structural, social, or political systems in their home countries.

The University of Nottingham offers this scholarship to support one-year, full-time Master’s and MRes students who demonstrate strong innovation, vision, and the ability to create impactful solutions. Awards are merit-based and focused on applicants’ proposed development ideas and how their chosen course of study will enable meaningful change.

Eligibility Criteria

To be qualified for the Developing Solutions Masters Scholarship 2026, applicants must:

  • Be domiciled in Africa, India, or one of the selected Commonwealth countries
  • Be classified as an overseas student for tuition fee purposes
  • Hold an offer to study a full-time Master’s or MRes programme starting in September 2026
  • Be studying within one of the following faculties at the University of Nottingham:
    • Faculty of Engineering
    • Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
    • Faculty of Science
    • Faculty of Social Sciences

Ineligible Applicants

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you:

  • Are a current student or graduate of the University of Nottingham
  • Have studied and been awarded an undergraduate or postgraduate degree outside your home country
  • Are currently studying in the United Kingdom

  • If prior study was undertaken in an eligible Developing Solutions country, applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis
