Scholarship Details
The Czech Republic Government Scholarship is governed by Resolution No. 77 of the Government of the Czech Republic, dated January 28, 2019. It is part of the country’s official Foreign Development Cooperation Program, implemented by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
This scholarship scheme supports students from developing countries and select third countries by enabling them to pursue higher education in Czech public universities. Since the program’s inception in the 1950s, more than 20,000 international students have benefited from this opportunity.
Scholarships are offered for studies at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels, depending on the applicant’s prior academic qualifications. The program is structured to support the full academic duration of the selected course of study.
Eligibility Criteria
To be qualified for the Czech Republic Government Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be citizens of the following eligible countries: Nigeria, Guatemala, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, and Zambia
- Not hold citizenship of any EU country or the Czech Republic
- Hold a bachelor’s degree when applying for a master’s program
- Hold both bachelor’s and master’s degrees when applying for a doctoral program
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the Czech Republic Government Scholarship will receive:
- Full coverage of tuition fees
- Monthly stipend for living expenses
- CZK 16,000 per month for master’s students
- CZK 17,000 per month for PhD students
- Accommodation and meals support
- Public transportation expenses within the Czech Republic
- Travel support to and from the home country (either covered by the nominating country or the applicant personally)
