Scholarship Details
Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Africa, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, provides a fully supported Master’s degree experience for talented African students committed to contributing to positive change.
Scholars pursue Master of Science degrees in Information Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Engineering Artificial Intelligence. Graduates of the program go on to create impact in their communities and drive social and economic progress across the African continent.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the CMU Africa Mastercard Scholarship, applicants must demonstrate:
- Academic Excellence: Strong motivation and ability to successfully complete graduate studies.
- Commitment to Community Service: A clear record of contributing to community growth and development.
- Leadership Potential: Capacity to influence and inspire positive change as future leaders.
Note: Applicants must first gain admission into one of the CMU-Africa Master’s degree programs to be eligible for the scholarship.

How to Apply
To apply for this scholarship:
- Submit an online application for one of the following programs:- Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT)
- Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MS ECE)
- Master of Science in Engineering Artificial Intelligence (MS EAI)
 
- If you apply by December 15, the scholarship covers the cost of required competency test fees.
- Final application deadline is January 15.
- Complete all required competency tests as instructed.
